Comments on the Kandiyohi County Residential Follow-up Survey
- In looking at the follow-up survey for Kandiyohi County, the data shows that residential use was up a fair amount. Computer ownership and Internet connectivity both rose 11 percentage points (see table), while broadband usage rose by over 15 points. - In this follow-up survey, about 61% of Internet users said they use the Internet about the same amount as they did a year ago, while 35% said they use it more.
- Among dial-up users, about 49% said they hadn’t yet tried broadband, compared to 31% in the previous survey. While this may sound strange, it should be kept in mind that the percentage of Internet users using dial-up dropped from 21% to about 10% between the two surveys. Those who continue to use dial up are probably just not interested in switching.
- When read a list of Get Broadband program activities held during the year, about 34% said they had heard of the activities, while about 3% had participated in them.

- About 56% of businesses connected to the Internet said they are using the Internet more now than a year ago, while about 44% said they are using it the same amount.
- About 29% of those interviewed said they had heard of the activities held in conjunction with the Get Broadband project, while about 7% said they participated in them. Those who participated rated activities as somewhat or very useful.
