Call for Nominations
The Blandin Foundation and the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) recognize the importance of innovative broadband use that will increase community economic vitality. The 2006 Minnesota Broadband Award is being launched to recognize innovators and showcase novel broadband applications and services for others to consider and adopt.
Nominations will be considered on a county-level basis. County-level Awards will be announced in October. Each County Board will submit one county-level winner and one alternate to the Statewide Award Committee, which will select one winner in each nomination category. Statewide Awards will be presented at the AMC Annual Conference in Rochester, December 4-6, 2006.
Nomination Categories
Nominees can be from any of the four categories listed below.
- Business Nominees: Any for-profit business
- Health Care Nominees: Any health care service provider
- Education Nominees: Public and private, K-12
- Higher Education
Governmental Nominees: Local, county and regional agencies
Eligibility and Nomination Requirements
- The nominee must be located in Minnesota.
- The nominee must use a broadband-based application or service that makes their organization more productive or efficient.
- The broadband application or service must have been introduced or upgraded within the last three years.
- Nominations must be submitted no later than July 31, 2006.
- Self-nominations are welcome.
Award Announcements
- County-level Award winners and alternates will be chosen by each County Board by August 30, 2006.
- Statewide awards will be selected by a panel of Blandin Foundation, AMC and industry representatives, and be announced at the AMC Annual Meeting December 4-6, 2006.
Recognition
- All award recipients will receive a Minnesota Broadband Award Certificate and will be recognized through a state and local media package.
- The winning statewide nomination in each category will be recognized at the AMC Annual Conference.

The Blandin Foundation Broadband Initiative was created in 2003 to expand the use and deployment of broadband telecommunications.
The Association of Minnesota Counties launched its Minnesota County Futures Project in 2003 and will incorporate the Broadband issue in 2006 as one of the special collaborative projects.
