Forest Biomass Harvesting Stakeholder Forum

More than 40 professionals from a balanced cross-section of interests met Tuesday, April 29, at Iron Range Resources offices in Eveleth, Minnesota, to review existing studies about the availability and feasibility of harvesting biomass from northeastern Minnesota forests and to discuss the practical opportunities for and challenges to sustainable harvest.

This half-day forum was a key recommendation and outcome of the “Seizing Opportunity: Forestry and the Bioeconomy” conference held in September 2007, and convened to continue dialogue on developing the region’s biomass potential, a leading-edge topic in Minnesota’s forest industry. Read more...
