Transportation Solutions

Reliable transportation is a must for people to gain and maintain employment, get to and from appointments and participate in academic activities. Yet many people in Itasca County struggle everyday getting to and from the places they need to be.

In 2008, the United Way of 1000 Lakes put a spotlight on the issue in their report, "What Matters." The Blandin Foundation responded to their call-to-action by convening a group of local stakeholders who have been working on this issue since February 2009.

In July 2009 the group, Itasca Transportation Solutions selected the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs to deliver a report, including recommendations that build on existing transportation options.

The final study was completed in December 2009, and is available below. If you have questions or would like more information about the study or the project itself, contact Linda Gibeau or Becky LaPlant.
